Garrett Hughes

Ph.D. Student
I am broadly interested in phylogenetics and systematics of arachnids. I have done some research on scorpion species of the genus Vaejovis in the Sky Islands of southern Arizona. Other projects include an inventory of scorpions of Wupatki National Monument and descriptions of new species of scorpions from Mexico, both under the guidance of Dr. David Sissom at West Texas A&M University, where I earned my Master’s degree. For my dissertation work in the Moore lab, I am researching the relatedness of pseudoscorpions within and among the Sky Islands and resolve taxonomic issues that surround some of these species.
